Ryan Carter Young, MD

I was very lucky, that Dr. Ryan Young was on duty the day my right eye's retina tore, which was a very scary experience! He waited extra late for us to arrive, and after a thorough exam, he took immediate action. I was taken to a very dark room, where Dr. Young used an impressive green laser light, strapped to his forehead, and then in under 5 minutes repaired the two bad tears! His quick and professional action put me and my husband instantly at easy. He is a wonderful and accomplished ophthalmologist, and absolute Luminary in his field! We were extremely lucky to meet him, and to have him as my doctor. Stay cool Dr. Young, and thank you again from the bottom of my heart!

The office of Austin Retina has a lot of hallways and doors with assistants/technicians coming out and calling out people’s names. It has a “Grand Central Station” feel, but is in fact efficient. They could use some more chairs in there, at times. The intake lady was training a new person, was busy, but still friendly, helpful and patient. (I have a retinal bleed and couldn’t see/read well, bc of it, so, many errors and questions, on my part). I forget how many different techs I saw - the place is buzzing with activity. Then in Dr Young’s office the findings were discussed and he informed me what needed to be done: shots in the eye!!! He was very friendly, reassuring, pleasant.and knowledgeable. The injection part was weird, but not as painful as I thought it would be. (Yup, there was yet another assistant putting in numbing drops, etc., beforehand). All and all, not a totally unpleasant experience. Beware, though: don’t wear contacts, bring all RX (sun) glasses AND a person to drop you off and pick you up. You will be a bit like Mr Magoo! I have decided to stay in Austin a bit longer than planned, so that Dr Young can do the second treatment.

Check-in was simple and easy. Every step of the process from examination of my eye issue to the procedure correcting my eye dilemma, lattice degenerative retinal, was extremely professionally accomplished by staff and, of course. Dr. Ryan. I am positively recommending this office for anyone searching for a physician regarding an eye problem.
